The Evils of the Market Economy

Glad all the exams are over!  Anyway, time to explain myself regarding the post ...

Last Wednesday, it was brought to my attention that Macy's was going to lay off 2,300 people from all of their stores nationwide ... which actually isn't that much proportionally if you consider the fact they have over 180,000 employees.  With all the recession fears and everything going on, you probably won't be spending so much income on clothes, cosmetics, etc.  I didn't think that would affect me until I got an e-mail from someone at Macy's saying that they are uncertain of whether they could still offer me a position in St. Louis.

Lo and behold, I got another e-mail this week from a different person saying that they are unable to give me the job in St. Louis.  Instead, they are choosing to honor the offer at one of their other four sites (Atlanta, Miami, San Francisco, and New York City).  I chose to hold off on even thinking about it until after I had taken my three exams.

Location is a big deal to me along with a bunch of other factors so now I've just been thinking about it.  Not a clue what to do ... I'm not all that upset or angry that all of this transpired.  In fact, I am quite content with how everything has been but if you can, just say a little blurb to God, "Have this end soon "=)

Easy Second Semester ... huh????

I'm taking a class called "Introduction to Inner Asia" ... now I know it's a 100-level class and I'm probably taking a lot of flack for enrolling in that type of class so late in my college career but I give you exhibit A:

Notice the chalkboard ... when class started it was completely blank and then he began his lecture with a few diagrams.  One diagram turned into several which turned into words on the board until it evolved into this by the end of class.  All I can say is ... HELP!!

Fall Semester is Over!!!!

I just had my last official time in the business school and I almost shed a tear ... well, not really but it's a little surreal that I had my last official class in the undergraduate business school.  Figures that a girl had asked to borrow a pencil from me during the final and then after finishing the final in about an hour, I stalled for time by reading through each individual question again until she was done.  45 minutes went by and she still hadn't finished so I decided to just turn it in and leave ... she could probably use the pencil for another final if she had one and if you're the person who asked for the pencil, Merry Christmas!

Had a pretty bad nightmare last night though and it was my first one in a long time.  It was the AFC playoffs and Indianapolis was playing the Cincinnati Bengals ... the score ended up being Colts 32 ... Bengals 94!  Peyton Manning threw 2 TD's and 9 interceptions?!?!?  Good thing that's not going to happen this year.

Anyway, I've been reading this selection of passages because of the Advent season and I was brought to Isaiah 54:11-17.  There is a section that goes "I have created the ravager to destroy; no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed."  For some reason, I find this oddly comforting that God still uses His own wrath in a way that's truly righteous.  Should probably read it sometime ;).

I'll be home for Christmas very soon!!

Finals Week ... or for me, the lack thereof

Because of the fact that I don't have any finals until 2:45 PM on Thursday, I've been getting the whole anxious "Did I miss a final exam?" feeling ... and someone please explain to me why finals are scheduled at 7:15 PM :(.  Anyway, because I will be graduating next semester (hopefully) I am starting to get these "Why didn't I discover that earlier?!?!?" moments ... quite disappointing given how late it is in my career.  For all of you Indiana University students that are reading this, you might want to look at this carefully :) ...

1.  In the event that the Wells library is swarmed with students taking K201, X201, I-Core, etc. , try Lindley Hall.  The computer labs are virtually empty when classes aren't using them!!

2.  There is a walkway behind the business school that leads to Law Lane, which allows you to park closer to the undergraduate side instead of parking in the garage then taking the bridge from the graduate side.

3.  "Know your enemy" ... Professors aren't your enemy on many occasions.  This completely blows my mind since I just made a 30-point improvement on an exam because I carried a conversation with a professor and answered a lot of my questions on what to expect.  Who knows how many times I could've improved BAH!!!  On a side note, many of the business professors are Christian ... quite cool since I don't have to worry about bringing up God in the middle of a conversation :).

4.  Sometimes working smarter is better than working harder!  Another reason why I made that 30-point improvement on an exam was I started studying a bit earlier and spaced out time instead of waiting until the night before heehee.

If I get any other epiphanies, I'll be sure to let you know :).  By the way, I kind of wish that my graduation date was December given the Commencement speaker.  Is it illegal for someone to tape it?

Anyway, back to finals!

Crazy Bible Studies

Want an interesting, exciting, but challenging book to have a bible study over .... try Hebrews teehee ... it's craaaaaaaazy!!!!

Just felt I had to voice an opinion since we're in the meat of it and my mind is pretty much being blown out over and over again =).  At least I can afford to really think about it since I have only two finals on Thursday thankfully.  Can't wait to be back home!!
